Questions about our Studio Experience
STUDIO DETAILS
We’ve grown a lot in the last 10 years! I started this business in the front room of our tiny Terrace home 10 years ago in 2013 with no idea how far we’d come! About 4 years my business allowed us to get a house that fit our better fit our family and gave a separate more convenient space in a basement studio to my clients. But it wasn’t long before we outgrew that space too. I wanted to be able to shoot larger families and have better space options in studio, so last year in 2022 we moved into our dream home and built out the extra garage space to be a gorgeous custom studio that meets all my photographer and client needs! It’s been a journey. I am so grateful to all my loyal clients throughout the years and to my family for supporting me and believing in my dreams. I have the best job around. Who wouldn’t want to snuggle newborns and create priceless art for famlies. I’m just livin’ the dream and I’m thankful everyday I get to do this!
We have collected and created over 10 years all the necessities to make your perfect newborn session dreams come true. We want this to be an experience to remember with all the feels and none of the stress! We hope you trust us with your precious cargo and relax, put your feet up and watch the magic happen.
Here are a few questions we get often about the studio and our
Newborn Photography Experience.
Do you have availability for my due date?
We hope so! book early to make sure you get a spot on our calendar. We encourage booking as soon as possible! Heck if you pee on a stick and wanna put us on your list of people to call we love it, you can pay your session fee and get a permanent spot on our calendar for your due date. Most people book in the 2nd trimester after finding out the sex of their baby. This is ideal timing for your consultation so that we can plan all the details for your perfect session.
How many newborns do you schedule per month?
We schedule only 8 babies a month in order to give the best service and experience to each client. Babies come when they want to so having only two due dates a week on the calendar leaves room for babies’ timing if we need to squeeze a few more in certain weeks. Ideally we photograph newborns when they are under two weeks old.
When will my session be? Do you do weekends?
We like to photograph your baby within the first 2 weeks of life. Ideally between 5 and 18 days old. We try to keep newborn sessions on Thursdays and Fridays at noon, but we can be flexible for other weekdays if needed. We don’t normally work weekends but can accommodate a Saturday need for an additional $100 fee. We don’t work Sundays.
Where is your studio and can I see the space before my session?
The studio is an extension of Emily’s home in Syracuse at 4118 W 1235 S. You will get a full tour of the studio space at your free consultation. You can also take a peek in the video above.
We keep our studio clean and tidy. We sanitize the space after every session and we wash and sanitize anything used for the session. We keep things organized and close at hand for everything we need.
Every client will meet with Emily in person for a consultation before their session to go over all the pricing and product details as well as plan the details of the session. This is ideally done in the late 2nd trimester or early 3rd trimester (20-30 weeks).
We have a client seating area, with snacks and drinks, a changing table and toys for siblings. We even have phone chargers, diapers, wipes and burpcloths just in case you forget something!
Em J Photography’s studio is located in Syracuse Utah.
Do you do posed or lifestyle newborn photography?
Em J Photography specialized in posed newborn photography. We do not offer in-home lifestyle sessions or come to your home for posed sessions. If you prefer lifestyle I am not the photographer for you.
What’s the difference between posed and lifestyle?
Posed is done in studio. Babies are molded into positions and props for picture perfection
Lifestyle is usually done in a home setting. It is more relaxed and focused on family interaction and nursery decor
