7 Things Every Newborn Photographer Needs
There are some things that will change your game in newborn photography.
Here are a few that I can’t do without (images are affiliate linked)
Ergonomic Stool
This guy saves my back! There is a whole lot of bending and holding involved in Newborn Photography. I’ve had some compare it to hot yoga. That takes it’s toll on your back. This stool has helped so much!
Lullavibe
This little beauty is magic. Place it under your layers on your posing table or in the bottom of a prop. It vibrates and soothes the little babies right to sleep!
Just keep it away from toddler sibling hands! (I’ve gone through a few, that handle is just too easy to snap)
The SHUSHER
This one saves me from running out of breath and spitting on my assistant (what’s one more fluid). This makes shushing noises so I don’t have to!
Small white towels
I get mine at costco in bunches. I think they are just cleaning towels. These babies clean up all the messes, and then get thrown in a bleached load of laundry and come out new! Plus they are cheap so if the stains stay you can just toss them and get some more. We use them as burp cloths, lap rags, fluid clean up and even as a little lift for poses! They are a must have!
Mini beans
I don’t care what brand they are, where you buy them, or if you make them! But get some mini posing beans. Medium firmness. They are the solution to most posing ailments. If the pose is not quite right one of these little guys will be your solution 9x out of 10!
A second set of hands
Baby safety is so important! Hiring an assistant will change the game! Not only for safety, but look at this image! How are you going to hold those toes in and get your camera ready for the shot…is it possible? … of course! Is it way easier if you have someone do it for you!….YES!!
Man Hands
Speaking of hands! Last but not least grow yourself some man hands! Ok obviously genetics are not in everyone’s favor, but this is the only circumstance that I am grateful for my giant hands LOL. I can hold most babies in froggy pose fully engulfed in my huge hands. Babies love the security that my giant hands give them in that pose! We get that one 90% of the time and I credit it to my man hands swaying trick (watch my videos).
Owner – Newborn Specialist
I am a feisty, fun, driven artist with a fierce loyalty to family and friends. I love the Crossfit and the outdoors, but I balance that love with a love of ice cream and Netflix (everything needs balance). My job is the best job around and fabulous hubby and four kids are my biggest cheerleaders. I do all I do for them, just trying to get by like the rest of the world. I love Jesus, and find that love through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I don’t like drama, public speaking or moody teenagers. That’s me in a nutshell…oh and cheese is the best part of life!
